THE BEST FINE FOOD STORE FOR EUROPEAN DELI PRODUCTS
When you consider the high investment that people have made and continue to make in the property, commercial and retail sectors, Bali has and continues to change moving forward to the higher end of the marketplace.
There are people, money and they love to eat and we already see that Bali’s food business also has moved ahead offering high quality product for all. With delicious tempting bakeries, fine chocolatiers, fresh organic salad & vegetables, fish markets & bottle shops, it makes sense that a high quality genuine European deli has found a valuable niche in the marketplace.
A visit to Marche de l’ Alsace a Table is like going on a quick visit to Europe with your shopping basket! There is so much to look at, to inhale, to taste with new grocery items that you can’t find elsewhere.
Here are fridge units literally groaning with a variety of cheese that we have not seen previously & a great way to learn more about the cheese itself; how it’s made, how to keep, how long to keep and when is the best time to eat it. There is Brie de Meaux, Brie with Truffle, Roquefort, Camembert & a wide range of Goats cheese. Charcuterie products on offer are also in vast amounts, smooth pates & rustic terrines, mousse, truffle, foie gras, rillettes, sausages & ham + condiments, all product for a feast at hand! Le Marche de L’Alsace also offers excellent veal & beef (imported from Australia) & the pork is from Bali.
Some grocery items to note are – a tall bottle wrapped in gold foil is oil for salad & vegetables; light & simply delicious. Small tins of authentic Moroccan Harissa, Maggie cubes in plentiful supply. Tinned products like Flageolet beans, an extensive range of Le Sirop de Monin as well, Bel Normande a non alcoholic sparkling wine, there’s Risotto (rice for Paella on the way) Pasta, Crackers + Espresso (capsules in a box) for your Nespresso machine. There’s a corner for bakery items, baguettes are very good, often there’s Alsatian cake too.
The people behind this venture is Pascal with an importing background & his wife Agnes who comes with fine credentials as a high-class cook/chef.
Both Pascal and Agnes are professionals and keen to pass on their gastronomic culture of the food business to all that enter Alsace. An area of business that has already grown quickly is the catering arm with the supply of prepared platters of cheese & cold cuts to pick up and drive away! They offer traditional dishes of Baeckehoffe, Choucroute with sauerkraut to warm up at home, Veal Cordon Blue prepared ready for the pan, the preparation for cheese fondue, raclettes & deep fried camembert, all you do is cook….
And if you are ready for a snack at any time, call in and partake of a degustation plate the ideal way to sample new cheeses & cold meats.
Pascal was telling me about his plans to introduce popular products for the many different nationalities that reside or visit Bali, already a melting pot of cultures, they also speak several languages.
Good news, Ubud is on the drawing board with Sanur & Jimbaran to follow, and don’t forget to take your cold bag with you shopping!
