A market leader in the commercial and residential sectors, particularly in the hospitality industry it became evident that a base in Bali was necessary to take advantage in the growth of the island and Indonesia.
Thus, Kian Interiors Bali was born……a design partnership between Danish designer Peter Mikkelsen and Australian designer Ian Monro. Kian Interiors is now open, with the next door property soon to showcase a sample of furniture particularly suited to the demanding hospitality and resort sectors which will be a wonderful resource for industry people from all over.
So dear readers, there is nothing like discovering a new shopping haunt is there and Kian Interiors will take your mind! only a stones throw across the road from the iconic Jenggala Keramiks, Jimbaran.
An ecletic mix of pieces is what I like, despite all the home stores around this one holds key items that you will fall in love with, want to pounce on & show off in your home!
My favorite piece has to be the unrestored Madura screen (Madura known for colorful houses, furniture etc, a small isle off the east coast of Java) comprises of four panels of wood embellished with silver and gold leaf, a real ‘one off’ which will provide a conversation piece in your home, love it!
The second favorite piece would be the upright cupboard with the two front doors plus side panels all intricately carved from Timor, it’s decorative, unique!
See if you can spot my third desired piece, yes? It’s the American style dresser or shop cabinet (could be Indochine in style) the hottest color around Verde Green to hold linens and/or dinnerware, it’s a beauty! just the right depth, glass sliding doors, about 2 metres tall, you will love it too!
Ikat is always in demand, but the pieces at Kian Interiors are once again different, vintage, found draped over the arms of sofas and rattan chairs. I particularly love the pieces with tiny shells woven into the fabric, these are from the isle of Sumba, I promise you the ikat fabric made up into cushions look super special.
The elegant two tone rattan chairs represent tropical living at it’s utmost, plus on display are a selection of wooden tables, copper bowls and urns, lamps, artworks and other unusual objets.
If it’s chairs you seek there are some excellent replicas like the ‘Wishbone’ chair by Hans Wagner.
Kian Interiors have a variety of sofa styles which focus on custom designed upholstery work, perhaps consider a new sofa with slip covers that can be changed with the season. Plus a selection of individual patterned rugs from Afganistan, Iran and Belgium, look supberb on wooden or tiled floors.
And now look to your right as you enter the store, a three and a half metre high large carved panel from Timor, unique, another superb piece that calls for attention.
No doubt, Kian Interiors is all about stylish homeware pieces that I haven’t seen elsewhere and believe me I know my stock well! If you are on the hunt for a unique piece, or if you have an inquiry about other products, follow up with store management who are experienced professionals, with an eye for locating exceptional pieces from around Indonesia.
